Out and About

Stephen James chaired the ITMA Spring Conference in March. He also delivered several talks on OHIM practice issues, including at ITMA-sponsored events in February in Chicago, New York and Washington, at the PTMG conference in March, and at the IPTA Conference in Australia in April, where he also spoke on domain names.

Roger George and Stephen James were part of a delegation representing the British trade mark profession at a meeting with OHIM in the spring.

Tim Pendered, Roger George and Stephen James attended INTA in May, and plan to attend the forthcoming Leadership Meeting in Phoenix in November to participate in the organization of the Chicago meeting in 2007. Tim Pendered will be chairing the Fraudulent Trademark Filings subcommittee.

Roger George will be attending the Marques Annual Conference in Malta in September.

Hazel Buckley and Joanne Ling attended the ITMA Spring Conference in March.

Katie Cameron, who also qualified in the spring, attended PTMG in March. She will also be attending PTMG in Boston in October.

Roger George on behalf of CIPA and Stephen James and Angela Fox on behalf of ITMA were involved in drafting responses to the Patent Office spring consultation on proposed changes to relative grounds examination.

Cara Baldwin gave birth to a daughter, Olivia Grace, on 28 April. Cara is on maternity leave until the end of the year. Our best wishes to her and her family on this happy event.
